Summary

This study tested a new approach to help veterans who are at high risk for suicide quit smoking. 67 veterans received either standard smoking cessation treatment or a new program that combines standard treatment with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a proven therapy for suicide risk. The goal was to see if the new approach helps more veterans reduce or stop tobacco use.
