Summary
This study tested a treatment called deep brain stimulation (DBS) for people with severe depression that hasn't gotten better with standard treatments. 46 adults received either active brain stimulation or a sham (fake) procedure to see if it could reduce their depression symptoms. The goal was to find a new option for those who have run out of effective treatments.
