Brain pacemaker trial offers hope for kids with devastating seizures

NCT ID NCT06924086

Summary

This trial is testing whether a surgically implanted brain stimulation device can reduce seizure frequency in children with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy. Children aged 5-14 who haven't responded to medications will have the device implanted, then be randomly assigned to have it turned on immediately or after a delay to compare effects. The main goal is to see if this 'brain pacemaker' helps control seizures when other treatments have failed.
