Summary
This large, completed study directly compared two common type 2 diabetes medications—dapagliflozin and metformin—to see which one is better at preventing serious long-term health problems. Over 2,000 adults with early-stage diabetes were randomly assigned to take one of the drugs for about four years. Researchers tracked national health records to see which group had fewer events like heart attacks, strokes, kidney disease, and deaths.
