Drug trial aims to stop Surgery's hidden killer: organ failure

NCT ID NCT07404358

Summary

This study is testing if a drug called Dalargin can prevent serious organ damage in patients recovering from major abdominal surgery, like stomach or colon operations. About 200 patients will be randomly assigned to receive either Dalargin or a placebo (saltwater) infusion for three days after their surgery. Researchers will check if the drug reduces complications like kidney injury, lung problems, and severe infections, which are common and dangerous after these high-risk procedures.
