New test could spot dangerous brain infections faster
NCT ID NCT06482463
Summary
This study aims to see if measuring a substance called D-lactate in spinal fluid can help doctors more accurately diagnose meningitis in hospitalized patients who have a special drain in their brain. Researchers will collect extra spinal fluid samples from 185 adult patients at a single hospital who are suspected of having this infection. They will compare the D-lactate test results to current standard tests to see if it is better at confirming or ruling out the infection.
