Could your Genes' 'Switches' predict chronic pain after surgery?
NCT ID NCT06418295
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looks at why some people have pain that lasts more than 3 months after chest surgery. Researchers will check blood samples from 60 adults before and after surgery to see if certain molecules (cytokines) and gene changes (DNA methylation) are linked to long-term pain. The goal is to gather information for a larger future study, not to test a new treatment.
