New blood test may spot kidney injury sooner after scans

NCT ID NCT07197957

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a blood test called cystatin C can find kidney injury earlier than the usual test in people with chronic kidney disease who get contrast dye for CT scans or heart procedures. About 100 adults will be followed for up to 10 days after their scan. If cystatin C works better, it could help doctors act faster to protect the kidneys.
