Blood test may predict lung cancer outcomes before surgery
NCT ID NCT05382052
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is looking at 100 people with stage IIIA lung cancer who are getting treatment before surgery. Researchers want to see if a blood test that looks for tumor DNA (ctDNA) can predict how well patients do. If the tumor DNA disappears after treatment, it might mean a better chance of staying cancer-free.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this study could show that a simple blood test (ctDNA) helps doctors predict which lung cancer patients will do well after pre-surgery treatment, guiding better care.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It only looks for patterns, so it won't directly change care. Results may not apply to all patients or be conclusive.
