Landmark study aims to curb radiation in millions of scans

NCT ID NCT07305103

Summary

This study aims to establish safety standards for radiation exposure during advanced 'spectral' CT scans, which provide detailed images but use X-rays. Researchers will analyze data from 9,600 patients who had these scans in France to define safe radiation limits for 20 common procedures, from chest scans to cancer imaging. The goal is to protect future patients by ensuring these powerful diagnostic tools use the lowest necessary dose.
