First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at 560 current or former smokers with and without COPD to see if a new CT-based method can better measure bone health and predict fracture risk. The goal was to create a tool that uses CT scans of the spine, hip, and ankle to assess bone structure, not just density. The findings could help doctors identify osteoporosis earlier in people with lung disease.
