New CT method may pinpoint stroke blockages faster

NCT ID NCT07347587

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether a special type of CT scan (multimodal CT) can more accurately identify the blocked artery in people with medium vessel occlusion stroke. Researchers will compare this method to standard CT scans in 622 adults who had a stroke within the last 24 hours. The goal is to see if the newer scan helps doctors make faster and more precise diagnoses.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to faster and more accurate diagnosis of medium vessel stroke, helping doctors choose the right treatment sooner.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may show that the new CT method is not significantly better than standard scans, and results may not apply to all stroke patients.
