First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tested whether using ice packs on surgical incisions helps patients feel better after surgery. About 196 adults having chest, belly, or groin surgery either used ice packs every 4 hours for 3 days plus standard care, or standard care alone. The main goal was to see if a larger trial is possible, and to measure pain and recovery quality.
