Freeze and remove: new cryoprobe tackles pancreatic necrosis

NCT ID NCT06553651

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests a cryoprobe—a tool that freezes tissue—to remove dead pancreatic tissue in people with severe pancreatitis. The standard method uses graspers that often struggle with sticky tissue. The cryoprobe may grab larger pieces and reduce complications. About 20 adults will be enrolled to see if the technique is safe and effective.
