Freezing the heart to fix its rhythm in High-Risk patients

NCT ID NCT04461691

Summary

This study tested a procedure called cryoballoon ablation, which uses extreme cold to treat an irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) in people who also have severe heart failure. It aimed to see if this freezing technique is safe and effective at controlling the irregular rhythm in this high-risk group of patients. The study compared outcomes in over 1,400 participants with heart failure to those with normal heart function.
