Freezing the heart to tame dangerous rhythms
NCT ID NCT04461691
Summary
This study tested a procedure called cryoballoon ablation in people who have both a common irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) and severe heart failure. The procedure uses extreme cold to create small scars in the heart to block the faulty electrical signals causing the irregular rhythm. Researchers wanted to see if this approach was safe and effective at reducing the return of these rhythm problems in this high-risk patient group.
