Freezing tumors instead of surgery: a new hope for elderly breast cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07398118

First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tests a freezing technique called cryoablation as a main treatment for early-stage breast cancer in people aged 70 and older. Instead of surgery or long-term hormone therapy, doctors use a needle to freeze and destroy the tumor through the skin. The goal is to see if this less invasive approach is safe, practical, and effective for older adults who may have trouble recovering from surgery.
