Finger-Prick test could spot deadly surgical leaks days earlier

NCT ID NCT07464600

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a quick, finger-prick blood test for C-reactive protein (CRP) can predict a serious complication called anastomotic leak after planned colorectal surgery. The goal is to catch leaks earlier, reduce the need for repeated blood draws, and help patients recover faster. About 500 adults having non-emergency colorectal surgery will participate.
