Finger-Prick test could spot dangerous colon leaks days sooner

NCT ID NCT07464600

Summary

This study is testing if a simple, quick finger-prick blood test (CRP point-of-care test) can predict a dangerous complication called an anastomotic leak after planned colon surgery. Researchers want to see if tracking the test results over the first five days after surgery can spot leaks earlier than current methods. The goal is to help patients recover faster, avoid extra blood draws, and potentially shorten hospital stays.
