New endoscopic approach aims to help Crohn's patients avoid surgery

NCT ID NCT07409376

Summary

This study compares two minimally invasive endoscopic procedures for treating small intestinal narrowing (strictures) in people with Crohn's disease. Researchers want to see which method—balloon dilation or a small incision technique—is more effective at keeping the passage open longer and delaying the need for repeat procedures or surgery. The goal is to provide a better treatment option to improve symptoms and quality of life for patients whose Crohn's disease causes these blockages.
