Fat cells fight back: new injection could heal Crohn's wounds

NCT ID NCT05594862

Summary

This study is testing whether injecting a patient's own processed fat tissue can heal stubborn perianal fistulas (painful tunnels near the anus) in people with Crohn's disease who haven't responded to standard biologic drugs. It aims to improve quality of life and reduce the need for a permanent ostomy bag. The trial involves 80 adults and compares the fat injection treatment against a control procedure.
