Drug trial targets debilitating Crohn's complications

NCT ID NCT03752970

Summary

This study tested whether a medicine called spesolimab could help adults with Crohn's disease who have painful fistulas near the anus. Twenty-seven participants were randomly assigned to receive either the drug or a placebo via an IV drip every four weeks for 24 weeks. Doctors tracked whether the fistulas closed and stopped draining to see if the treatment was effective.
