Timing is everything: new study tests early vs late walking rehab after spinal injury

NCT ID NCT06176833

First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at whether the timing of a special walking therapy (body weight supported treadmill training) after a traumatic spinal cord injury affects how well people recover. Researchers will compare starting therapy within 60 days, 3 months, or 6 months after injury, and also a group that doesn't get the extra therapy. The goal is to find the best time window for rehabilitation to improve walking ability.
