NCT ID NCT06103474

First seen Jan 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at how the language used in MRI reports might affect how patients feel and what treatments they choose. Researchers wanted to see if changing the wording could reduce the 'nocebo effect'—where negative expectations lead to worse outcomes. 18 adults with lower back pain who had an MRI took part. The goal was to learn if better reporting can improve pain scores and reduce unnecessary procedures.
