Researchers test if nighttime breathing help eases strain on young hearts

NCT ID NCT02414126

Summary

This study aimed to understand how children with heart failure breathe and sleep, and to see if using a CPAP machine (a device that provides gentle air pressure) while awake could make breathing easier and potentially help their heart function. It involved 30 children, from infants to teenagers, who had heart failure. Researchers measured their breathing effort and heart function with and without the CPAP machine, and also monitored their sleep overnight.
