Pandemic lockdowns triggered major shifts in online gambling habits

NCT ID NCT04714008

Summary

This study aimed to understand how the COVID-19 pandemic changed people's online gambling behaviors. Researchers analyzed real gambling data from 120,000 people in France and Sweden to see if lockdowns, sports cancellations, and stress led to more or different gambling. They compared the two countries because France had strict lockdowns while Sweden did not, to see how different pandemic responses affected gambling patterns.
