Simple blood test may predict life or death for critically ill COVID patients

NCT ID NCT07244731

Summary

This study looked at whether a common blood test, called RDW, could help doctors predict which severely ill COVID-19 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) might need a breathing tube or are at higher risk of dying. Researchers analyzed medical records of 146 adult patients to see if RDW levels were linked to these outcomes. The goal was to find a simple, low-cost way to identify high-risk patients earlier.
