Scientists probe why COVID-19 wipes out key immune cells
NCT ID NCT04401436
Summary
This study aims to understand how the COVID-19 virus causes a dangerous drop in lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that fights infections. Researchers collected blood samples from 240 adults who either had active COVID-19 or had recently recovered. By analyzing these samples, they hope to learn how the virus affects the immune and blood-clotting systems, which could lead to ideas for future treatments.
