New study maps tracer uptake in healthy TAVR valves

NCT ID NCT03683355

First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study involved 30 people who had a TAVR procedure to replace their aortic valve. Researchers used a special PET/CT scan to see how a radioactive tracer (18F-FDG) appears in noninfected valves shortly after surgery. The goal was to establish a baseline pattern, which could help doctors better distinguish between infected and noninfected valves in the future.
