Can steroids ease swallowing trouble after ICU breathing tubes?

NCT ID NCT06670521

First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests if a short course of steroids given through a vein can reduce throat swelling and improve swallowing in people who recently had a breathing tube. About 80 adults who still have throat swelling after the tube is removed will receive either steroids or a placebo. The goal is to see if steroids help the swelling go down faster.
