New study aims to predict heart attacks before they happen
NCT ID NCT07353762
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will use data from over 10,000 people to create a risk prediction model for coronary artery disease. Researchers will combine heart imaging scans (like CT angiograms) with blood markers (like cholesterol) to better identify who is at high risk for heart attacks or other major heart events. The model will first be developed using past data, then tested on new participants to see how well it works.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a more accurate tool for doctors to predict who is at high risk for heart attacks or other heart problems, helping guide earlier or more aggressive treatment.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it won't directly help patients. The model may not work as well in real-world settings or different populations, and it will need further validation before it can be used in clinics.
