Eye stress test could predict vision loss risk
NCT ID NCT04175938
Summary
This study aimed to develop a new way to measure how well the inner layer of the cornea works in people with Fuchs' dystrophy, a common cause of vision loss. Researchers planned to have healthy volunteers and patients with the disease wear a special contact lens as a 'stress test' and then measure how much their corneas swelled and how quickly they recovered. The goal was to create a tool to help doctors identify which patients are at higher risk for serious swelling that leads to vision loss and the need for a corneal transplant.
