First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This early-stage trial tests a treatment for corneal endothelial dysfunction, a condition that causes the cornea to swell and blur vision. Doctors take healthy cells from donated corneas, grow them in a lab, and inject them into the patient's eye. The goal is to see if these cells can repair the cornea, reduce swelling, and improve eyesight. The study involves 12 adults with severe vision loss and thickened corneas.
