Discarded eye tissue yields clues about nearsightedness
NCT ID NCT04817592
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looks at tiny pieces of corneal tissue that are normally thrown away during a type of eye surgery for nearsightedness (myopia). Researchers will test the strength and structure of these tissues to better understand how the cornea works. About 100 people aged 20 to 50 having this surgery will take part. The goal is to learn more about the eye's mechanics, not to test a new treatment.
