Exercise during pregnancy may boost newborn immunity, study hopes to find out

NCT ID NCT07579468

First seen May 22, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a mother's physical activity during pregnancy changes a substance called calprotectin in her baby's cord blood. Calprotectin levels are linked to infection risk in newborns. Researchers will measure calprotectin in cord blood from 250 babies born to mothers who took part in a previous exercise study. The goal is to understand how regular exercise during pregnancy might affect newborn health.
