New birth technique aims to boost survival for tiniest babies

NCT ID NCT03808051

Summary

This study tested a new approach for very premature babies born before 30 weeks. It compared waiting to clamp the umbilical cord until the baby's heart rate and oxygen levels were stable, versus clamping the cord at a set time shortly after birth. The goal was to see if the new, more personalized timing leads to more babies surviving without major brain or intestinal injuries.
