Could a cord blood injection halt a leading cause of blindness?
NCT ID NCT06536062
Summary
This study is testing whether injections of a substance made from umbilical cord blood and platelets can slow or stop the progression of dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a common cause of vision loss in older adults. Researchers will give the injections to 36 participants with dry AMD in both eyes and compare different treatment schedules. The main goal is to see if the treatment can stabilize the damaged area in the eye's retina and prevent it from getting larger.
