Could cord blood injections halt vision loss in dry AMD?

NCT ID NCT05706896

Summary

This pilot study is testing whether injections of umbilical cord blood platelet-rich plasma into the eye can slow or stop the progression of dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Researchers will enroll 36 participants aged 65+ with bilateral dry AMD to compare the injections against a sham procedure. The main goal is to see if the treatment can stabilize the area of retinal damage and potentially improve vision.
