New blood test could spot dangerous complication in kids after brain surgery

NCT ID NCT06742060

Summary

This study aims to see if measuring a substance in the blood called copeptin can help doctors quickly diagnose a water-balance disorder called central diabetes insipidus (CDI) in children after brain surgery. Researchers will track copeptin levels in 100 children in the intensive care unit to see if it can tell which children develop CDI. The goal is to find a better way to identify this complication so it can be managed sooner.
