Simple scan could warn doctors before COPD patients crash

NCT ID NCT07259174

Recruiting now Knowledge-focused Sponsor: Isala Source: ClinicalTrials.gov ↗

Summary

This study is testing whether a simple ultrasound measurement of the diaphragm (the main breathing muscle) can predict which patients hospitalized for a severe COPD flare-up will get worse and need breathing support or might die. Researchers will scan about 186 patients when they are admitted to the hospital and then track what happens to them. The goal is to find a reliable early warning sign so doctors can provide more timely care.
