COPD warning sign: study finds exercise slump may predict dangerous Flare-Ups

NCT ID NCT05492149

Summary

This study aimed to see if a drop in a patient's exercise performance during a standard pulmonary rehabilitation session could act as an early warning sign for an upcoming COPD flare-up. Researchers monitored 150 adults with COPD during their rehab sessions. They looked for a link between a patient's declining ability to exercise and their risk of being hospitalized for a sudden worsening of breathing symptoms.
