Scientists probe Gut-Lung link in breathing disease
NCT ID NCT03327181
Summary
This study aimed to understand if people with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) produce different levels of certain gut chemicals called short-chain fatty acids compared to healthy people. Researchers compared 63 adults with COPD to healthy adults of similar age. The goal was to gather basic knowledge about how gut health might be connected to lung inflammation in COPD, not to test a treatment.
