First seen Apr 17, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at whether measuring carbon dioxide in a person's breath (EtCO2) can help doctors quickly tell how serious a COPD attack is. Researchers will monitor 240 adults who come to the emergency room with breathing trouble and a history of COPD. If successful, this simple, non-invasive test could reduce the need for painful blood draws and help start treatment faster.
