Hidden danger: researchers hunt for silent blood clots in COPD patients
NCT ID NCT02035293
Summary
This study aimed to find out how often people hospitalized for a sudden worsening of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) also have a dangerous blood clot in their lungs. Researchers tested 750 patients using a standard set of scans and blood tests to look for these clots. All patients, whether a clot was found or not, were followed for three months to see if any developed later.
