New lung implant tested for severe breathing disease

NCT ID NCT05087641

Summary

This study is testing a small, implantable device called an Artificial Bronchus for adults with severe COPD or emphysema. The device is placed into the damaged airways during a bronchoscopy procedure, with the goal of reducing trapped air in the lungs and improving airflow. The main focus is to check if the potential benefits for breathing outweigh the risks, such as serious lung infections or complications from the procedure.
