Breathing tests after lung scans could catch COPD before It's too late

NCT ID NCT06008145

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at whether offering simple breathing tests to smokers who have already had a lung CT scan can help find COPD earlier. Many people lose a lot of lung function before they are diagnosed, and this damage cannot be reversed. About 568 participants will be invited for breathing tests and advice on quitting smoking, managing symptoms, and staying healthy. The goal is to see if this approach works and is acceptable to patients.
