New hope for COPD patients who Can't tolerate standard breathing machines

NCT ID NCT04840706

Summary

This study aimed to see if a nasal oxygen device called Airvo could help people with COPD who have high carbon dioxide levels but cannot use the standard, more invasive breathing machine (NIV). It compared the Airvo device to standard care over one year, looking at whether it could lower carbon dioxide levels and reduce the number of serious COPD flare-ups. The study was very small and was terminated early.
