Natural mouthwash trial aims to soothe painful side effect of cancer treatment
NCT ID NCT05308732
Summary
This early-stage study is testing whether a mouthwash made from copaiba, a natural resin, is safe and tolerable for patients with oral cancer who are receiving radiotherapy. The main goal is to see if it can help prevent or reduce the severity of oral mucositis—painful mouth sores and ulcers that are a common and debilitating side effect of radiation treatment. Researchers will give the mouthwash to small groups of patients at different doses to find the safest amount to use.
