Chilling the brain to stop deadly seizures: a new hope in the ICU

Summary
This study is testing if controlled body cooling helps people recover from a severe, life-threatening type of seizure that doesn't respond to standard medications. It will involve 466 unconscious adult patients in intensive care who are on a ventilator. Patients will be randomly assigned to have their body temperature lowered to 33°C (about 91°F) for 24 hours or kept at a normal 37°C (about 99°F), to see which leads to better recovery 90 days later.
