Cooling newborns: does it help or harm mild brain injury?

NCT ID NCT04621279

Summary

This study aims to find out if cooling therapy (therapeutic hypothermia) is better than keeping a normal body temperature for newborns with mild brain injury caused by oxygen deprivation during birth. Researchers will follow 460 infants for two years to see how their development progresses and measure any stress the treatment causes for families. The decision to use cooling or normal temperature will be based on each hospital's standard practice, allowing researchers to compare the real-world results.
